Trip, Travel
Marta, the creator of the blog „Living with MSA“, talks about her experiences as an MSA sufferer and about having to give up the blog:
The original intention of this blog was to show that life with MSA still has a lot to offer and is worth living. In the meantime, I am struggling with these plans. A lot of time has passed since the beginning, I feel much worse and I am less motivated. In the beginning, I thought I could keep the disease under control with sport and exercise. Well, being active does help, but it’s still one step forward and two steps backwards. You still lose weight, no matter what you do. Maybe a little slower. So you have to do a hell of a lot for the little bit of life you have left. And that wears you down, at some point you don’t feel like it. And so the reason is, I don’t want to demotivate. But something good happened! I was at home, in Bavaria, on Lake Ammersee, where my bench is. Silvia organized the trip for me with the Malteser’s „Herzenswunsch-Krankenwagen“ and the people from Wetzlar drove me. They were really nice and helpful.
Many, many thanks to Silvia and the Maltesers. And everyone from the community who was there. Thanks to Professor Levin, Mr. Bernhard from YAMSA e.V. and Kristina, who prepared all of this journalistically and brought it to the media. The goal of raising awareness and making the disease better known has thus been achieved. And thanks to my friends, of course!

Memories and experiences
There was a lot going on, I hardly had time to get sentimental. Of course, it wasn’t easy to be in places that are associated with so many memories.
The primary reason for the visit was actually to see my bench. I donated this bench to the municipality at the beginning of the year. The original idea was, after I had organized my burial at sea, to create a place instead of a gravestone that would remain in a place where I liked to be. Where my friends can come by if they feel the need. Having this bench installed was an important item on my bucket list. And so my bench has been standing by the Ammersee since the beginning of the year, and I didn’t think I would manage to see it until Silvia came along and everything turned out differently.
